FAMOUS faces from Bolton are among the stars taking part in this year’s I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!
TV presenter Vernon Kay and broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire will be appearing alongside celebs including Sir Mo Farah and Coronation Street star Beverley Callard.
The line-up was confirmed during a special programme last night, before the first episode of the series airs next week.
The new series, hosted by Ant and Dec, will take place at Gwrych Castle in Wales rather than the usual location in the Australian jungle, due to coronavirus restrictions.
Vernon found fame as the presenter of Channel 4’s weekend magazine show T4.
Since then Kay, who is married to Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly, has hosted shows including All Star Family Fortunes, Beat The Star and Splash!, The Whole 19 Yards, Home For The Holidays, Let’s Get Gold and 1000 Heartbeats.
He also presented his own BBC Radio 1 show between 2004 and 2012.
Vernon, aged 46, said: “Mainly I am doing it for my daughters, Phoebe and Amber.
“It’s a show they watch on a regular basis and they get behind the people in the camp. I think the fact I am involved in it will make it even more fun for them.
“And now it is approaching, they are so excited. Every time I talk about it, I get a double fist pump from them and they are thrilled to be involved.”
BBC broadcaster Victoria, aged 52, who announced in August 2015 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and would be having a mastectomy, said it was beating the illness that inspired her to go on the show.
She said: “This is a mad thrill adventure that I want to take part in. Because of cancer I know, more than lots of people, life is short.
“I am now saying ‘yes’ to stuff I wouldn’t have done previously. And if I don’t do my boys proud, I will never live it down.
“They really, really want me to do it and they have kept it a secret for months now because they want me to do it so much.
“They do think it is cool I am doing it because this is their programme of the year.
“My husband is also so happy I am doing it. He thinks I will love it, throw myself into it and he said if it makes me happy, he is happy. They are on the journey with me.”
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! starts on ITV on November 15.
