The I’m A Celebrity 2020 contestants are said to be isolating at a lavish country estate in North Wales ahead of the new series this Sunday.

The hit ITV show has relocated from the Australian jungle to Gwrych Castle amid the coronavirus pandemic.

And with campmate AJ Pritchard already testing positive for Covid-19 days before the new series, he has since tested negative, the celebrities are said to be being kept safe in luxury.

The lavish country estate in North Wales is set on sprawling land for guests to enjoy with its own lake, buildings and farm on the grounds.

Other details in in the mansion, which is nearby Gwrych Castle, include period features such as slash windows, slate roof tiles and ascending plants on the walls.

Although in slightly less luxury, no doubt to prepare the contestants for their time in Gwrych Castle, two portaloos could be seen on the grounds for staff to use.

MailOnline has contacted I’m A Celebrity for comment.

Earlier this week, contestant Vernon Kay gave fans a glimpse into isolation as he revealed his accommodation had a hot tub, sprawling gardens and its very own gym in a remote location on the picturesque Anglesey coast.

Taking to Instagram on Monday morning, he told fans: ‘So it’s been announced that I will be taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! I’m looking forward to it to be honest with you.

‘But, prior to going into the castle in North Wales we’ve been isolating separately in beautiful farm houses, bed and breakfasts, hotels, that kind of thing.

‘And I’ve been fortunate enough to stay in this place. It’s beautiful, little farm house in Anglesey.’

The presenter also offered a worrying portent of things to come by admitting the dire Welsh weather was already starting to affect him.

He added: ‘The weathers been interesting. Hideous winds at time where I haven’t been able to sleep, apart from that it’s been great.

‘I brought my own golf net so I can practice my golf swing. Look at the Moors behind me. You get the RAF flying over pretty much every day practising their low flying skills.’

Giving followers a guided tour of the property, Vernon admitted ITV had spared no expense in ensuring he was comfortable ahead of his trip to Gwrych Castle later in the week.

‘We’ve got a hot tub. Can you believe it? We’ve got a hot tub. Not been in it yet because it’s freezing,’ he revealed while entering the house through a large kitchen.

He added: ‘We’re going to the living room and once again there’s a theme, there’s a theme to my lockdown quarantine. I’ve been putting. Practicing my put. I’ve been on the cycling machine while I’ve been watching TV.

‘I’ve got a games console. I’ve got an X-Box. Been playing Call Of Duty but I’m still rubbish at it. We’ve got a log fire – that’s been keeping me warm, and busy keeping it lit.’

The presenter also revealed a small gym adjacent to the living room as he urged fans to support him while making his way out through the back door.

‘I thought I’d never say this as it’s quite weird but if you can give us a vote – challenges, tasks, trials, whatever they are – if you don’t mind keeping me busy, because I like a challenge, I like a task, something to do,’ he said.

‘I’m looking forward to meeting my fellow campmates and making some really good friends, because if what’s reported is true it seems like we have a really, really good cast. A talented bunch. Crikey, singers, dancers, actors, actresses, Olympians – and me.’

Confirming he was alone ahead of his appearance on the show, he said: ‘I’ve been keeping busy, been doing all my washing, been keeping clean, and then upstairs we’ve got a handful of bedrooms, which is a waste of time because it’s only me in this farmhouse.’

Vernon will join Jessica Plummer, 28; Shane Richie, 56; Victoria Derbyshire, 52; Giovanna Fletcher, 35; Hollie Arnold, 26; Sir Mo Farah, 37; AJ Pritchard, 26; Beverley Callard, 63 and Jordan North, 30.

Hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the ITV programme, which will be returning for its 20th series from November 15, has seen the show relocate from the jungles of Australia to North Wales’ Gwrych Castle due to Covid travel concerns.

Over the weekend the ITV series was reportedly ‘thrown into chaos’ after it was revealed that AJ had tested positive for coronavirus days before the launch.

Yet MailOnline revealed earlier this week that the former Strictly pro will be going into the camp on Sunday – after now testing negative for coronavirus

AJ has now been given the green light to take part after self-isolating and regular tests.

The entire show were reportedly on ‘tenterhooks’ awaiting confirmation that AJ was free of the disease after the ITV team had undergone ‘incredible lengths’ to ensure the set is Covid secure.

An insider told MailOnline the professional dancer is now officially confirmed to take part in the show after receiving a negative test result on Wednesday.

A TV source added: ‘It is a huge relief, luckily AJ hasn’t suffered at all with the virus – and was able to recover quickly.

‘Thankfully his test result has come back negative so he has been given the all clear to go ahead with the show.

‘He is so excited to take part, a positive test result at this last stage would have been devastating.’

In a new interview, AJ told MailOnline: ‘I did have a positive Covid test early on into my isolation.

‘I’m very, very happy to report I’ve had two negative tests recently and they’ve both come back very, very negative which means I’m 100 per cent going into the jungle/castle whatever we’re calling it now, into the castle, and I’m very excited about that. A big relief for everybody.

‘I just want to thank ITV for all their stringent measures and the whole point of us going into lockdown and isolating was just in case this happened so thank you very much to ITV for making everybody feel safe and secure in this situation.’

He added: ‘I didn’t have any symptoms and I think that’s the thing with this.
