The fourth season of The Crown stretches from May 1979, when Margaret Thatcher is elected Britain’s first female prime minister, to Christmas 1990, shortly after she has been drummed out of office. Peter Morgan, the show’s creator, tells us: “We do our very, very best to get it right, but sometimes I have to conflate [incidents] . . .
