A man was charged with the murder of his wife after she was found stabbed to death at their home.
The 56-year-old had been stabbed multiple times to the head and neck and died a short time later.
Her husband, George Leather was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been in police custody since she was found.
On Tuesday night, detectives charged the 60-year-old with murder and remanded him in custody.
He will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 18.

Tributes to Paula were left outside her home as neighbours commented on how “polite” and “thoughtful” she was.
A bouquet was also left at the police cordon with a heartbreaking note from a friend attached.
It said: “I can’t believe I am saying goodbye to such a special person and a really great friend.
“You will be so truly missed by so many people.
“Forever in our hearts and thoughts Paula.
“Thinking of your family at such a sad time. All our love xxx.”
There was still a large police presence at the scene on Tuesday evening where officers continued to guard the house.
In a statement about the developments in the investigation, a spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “A man has been charged with the murder of his wife in Prescot in the early hours of Monday 16 November.

“At around 1.20am, emergency services were called to Tinling Close to reports a woman in her 50s had been found seriously injured. She was sadly pronounced deceased at around 1.40am.
“The victim has been formally identified as 56-year-old old Paula Leather, from Prescot.
“A Home Office post mortem examination has been carried out and has determined the cause of death as stab wounds to the face and neck.
“Her family is being supported by specialist officers.
“George Leather, 60 years, of Tinling Close, Prescot was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with murder.
“He has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18 November.”
