AJ Pritchard faced the wrath of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! producers after he cheekily tried to smuggle vegetables from a trial back into camp.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star thought he could get away with pocketing some mushrooms that were among the mouldy veg used in the Castle Coin Challenge.
His campmates had been on meagre rations in recent days as the amount of meals won in the Bushtucker Trials began to dwindle.
AJ thought he would take matters into his own hands but had to cough up the contraband after he realised that his misdemeanour had been caught on camera.
The 26-year-old professional dancer had been teamed up with EastEnders actress Jessica Plummer, 28, to take on Horsing Around.
It saw the pair having to feed vegetable scraps to a hungry horse but when he thought that the cameras were not him, he tried hiding some mushrooms to help flavour their food later that day.
Unfortunately for AJ, his actions were spotted and he was reprimanded for his attempts to cheat the show.
A source told The Sun : “AJ thought it would be funny to try and sneak some of the leftover veg, that would just go in the bin otherwise, back to camp.
“As part of the challenge they had very grim looking vegetables, including mushrooms, to feed the horse.”
The source added that at this point of their time camp that the celebrities were feeling the hunger pains, they would even turn to mouldy veg in the hope of finding something edible.
The source continued: “He had to come clean once he realised what he’d done had been picked up by cameras and microphones meaning he went back to the camp empty-handed.”
AJ was evicted from the castle alongside Sir Mo Farah after viewers voted to keep the other campmates on Wednesday night.
*I’m A Celebrity returns tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV.
